PJ REALM

Privacy

Last updated October 14, 2026. This policy covers PJ Realm LLC's games (Double Take, Vignette and Countermeasure) and this website.

The short version

Our games send nothing to us. There's no PJ Realm account, no analytics, no advertising and no telemetry, and we run no game servers. Double Take and Vignette work entirely offline. Countermeasure plays offline too; when you choose online co-op or versus, it connects you to the other player through Steam, and the details are below. Achievements and cloud saves are Steam features run by Valve. This website has no analytics, no cookies and no trackers. If you email us, we keep the email until the matter is closed.

The games

None of our games collects personal information for PJ Realm. There's no PJ Realm account, login or sign-up, no telemetry, no analytics library, no advertising identifier and no crash reporter phoning home. Nothing you do while you play is sent to us.

Your saved games, settings and progress are written to your own computer, in your Windows user folder (see Support for each game's folder). If you delete that folder, you delete the data.

Double TakeFully offline. Saves to your computer, with Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud (below). No other network use.
VignetteFully offline. Saves to your computer, and saves each picture you clear to your Windows Pictures folder as a wallpaper. Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud (below). No other network use.
CountermeasureSingle player is offline. Saves your campaign progress, achievements and a high-score table to your computer; the high-score table records your player name next to each score (your Steam display name, or your Windows account name if Steam isn't running). Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud (below). Online co-op and versus send game data to the other player, as described in the next section, and only when you choose to play online.

Games differ, and future or acquired titles may work differently. Where a game collects anything, that game's store page says so, and this page is updated before it ships. Nothing is ever collected quietly.

Online play in Countermeasure

Online play happens only when you pick it from the Multiplayer menu. It runs on Steam, and there is no PJ Realm server in between.

  • Finding each other. Playing with a friend opens a friends-only Steam lobby; Find a Match opens or joins a public one, which other players of the game can see. A lobby carries your Steam display name, the mode you picked and the game version. While you're in one, Steam lets your friends see that you can be joined.
  • During a match. The two games talk to each other through Valve's Steam relay network, so neither player sees the other's IP address. What goes to the other player is your Steam display name, your aim, shots and in-game choices, your progress in the match (score, wave, chains, remaining cities) and periodic checks that both games agree. There is no text chat and no voice chat.
  • Without Steam. If Steam isn't running, the Multiplayer menu offers a direct connection to another computer by its address, meant for a local network. The two computers then connect directly, so each can see the other's IP address, and the name shown to the other player is your Windows account name.

Nothing from a match is stored by us, because nothing from a match reaches us.

What Steam does

If you buy a game through Steam, Valve is the seller and the merchant of record, and Valve handles your purchase, your payment details and your Steam account. That's governed by Valve's privacy policy, not this one, and none of it passes through us.

All three games use Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud. Achievements and their progress counters are stored by Steam on your Steam account, and Steam Cloud keeps a copy of your save files on Valve's servers so they follow you to another PC. Countermeasure's lobbies and relay are Steam features too. All of this is processed by Valve on Valve's servers, under Valve's privacy policy.

Steam shares aggregate, anonymous information with developers, such as total sales, refund rates, country-level breakdowns, playtime and achievement percentages. None of it identifies you, and we can't look up an individual player.

This website

No cookies. No analytics. No tracking pixels, no embedded fonts from a third party, no scripts loaded from anyone else's server, no social widgets. Every file this site loads comes from this site.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare records standard server access logs (IP address, time, which page was requested, browser user-agent) for delivery, security and abuse prevention. We don't use those logs as an analytics product and don't use them to build any profile of you. That processing is Cloudflare's, under their privacy terms.

If you email us

When you write to support@pjrealm.com, press@pjrealm.com or legal@pjrealm.com, we keep your message and email address for as long as it takes to sort out whatever you wrote about, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case it comes back.

We don't add you to a mailing list. There is no mailing list. Your address is never sold, rented or shared, and the only reason we'd hand it to anyone else is if the law required it.

Children

Our games are made for families and players of all ages. Because our games collect no personal information for us from anyone, there is nothing collected from a child either, knowingly or otherwise. In Countermeasure's online play, the only personal detail another player sees is a Steam display name, and there is no chat. Purchases and online play go through Steam, which has its own account age requirements and family controls.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete the personal information a company holds about you. In this case the honest answer is that there is almost nothing to act on: unless you have emailed us, we hold no personal information about you at all. Data held by Steam is managed through your Steam account and Valve.

If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, ask at legal@pjrealm.com and we'll do it.

Changes

If a game starts collecting something new (an online leaderboard, crash reports, an account), this page changes before that game ships, and the game's store page will say so plainly. The date at the top of this page is when it was last revised.
